Embracing the Autumn Season: A Time for Transition and Support
As the vibrant days of summer give way to the golden hues of autumn, this season invites us to slow down, reflect, and embrace change. For expecting and new mothers, this transition mirrors the profound shifts happening within—both physically and emotionally. Just as the trees release their leaves, autumn encourages us to let go of what no longer serves us and create space for nourishment, grounding, and growth.
As a postpartum doula and pre/postnatal yoga teacher, I guide you through this transformative season of motherhood. Whether you are preparing for your baby’s arrival or adjusting to life with a newborn, my services are designed to support you in aligning with the rhythm of nature while honouring your unique journey. This blog discusses: the parallels between autumn and motherhood; how I can support as a postpartum doula or pre/postnatal yoga teacher; and embracing autumns rhythm.

From Summers End to Autumn’s Embrace: Rediscovering Play, Lightness and Support in Motherhood
As the warmth of summer gives way to autumn’s crisp embrace, many of us feel a shift—not just in the seasons but in our emotional and mental landscapes. For mothers, this transition often magnifies the weight of responsibilities, leaving little room for joy or spontaneity. The heavy energy of modern motherhood—marked by endless to-do lists and mental load—can feel overwhelming. But what if this seasonal change became an invitation to reconnect with playfulness, joy, and self-care? This blog explores how.

From Scorcher to Snuggles: Easing into Autumn After a Sizzling Summer
Summer in Australia is a time of abundant yang energy—a season filled with activity, warmth, and outward focus. This year, the exceptional heat has reminded us of the importance of staying cool, hydrated, and adaptable in our routines to maintain well-being. As we approach the end of February, the transition to autumn begins to gently unfold, inviting us to shift gears and prepare for the cooler months ahead.
For new and expecting mothers, this summer may have felt particularly overwhelming. Broken sleep from warm nights, increased thirst, and a natural gravitation toward lighter meals are common experiences during such an intense season. Practices like cooling breathwork, restorative yoga poses, or even brief moments of mindfulness can provide much-needed relief from the physical and emotional demands of a hot summer. These practices not only soothe the body but also help create space for reflection as we transition into autumn. This blog includes: the transition from yang to yin energy; nourishment for the body; practices for emotional balance; and preparing for winter’s yin energy.
